Born: 16 November, 1931, in West Godavari Dist. of AP, India.

Education:

• B.Sc. (1949) I class at the age of 17 ⁺ years.
• M.Sc., Geophysics (1951) in I class from Andhra University.
• D.Sc., Applied Geophysics (1957) from Andhra University.
• Higher Education:
• Goettingen, West Germany (1957-58)
• London, UK (1962-63) under Prof. (Lord) PMS Blakett, Nobel Laureate (at Imperial College, London) 

Career Achievements:

• Lecturer in Geophysics at Andhra University 1956 to 1963;
• Reader in Geophysics at Osmania University, 1963 to 1967;
• Professor in Geophysics at Osmania University 1967 to 1991.
• Visiting Professor at International Training Centre, Delft, Holland in 1982.
• Emeritus Scientist CSIR 1991 - 1994
• Emeritus Fellow UGC 1995 - 1996.
• Head, Department of Geophysics from 1967
• Established and became Head, Centre of Exploration Geophysics, a  fully Government of India-funded Indo-Soviet Collaboration Institute, 1967 onwards.
• Dean, Faculty of Science, Osmania University 1989 - 1991.
• Chairman and Managing Director, AP Mineral Development Corporation, Govt. of AP at the invitation of the then Chief Minister, Hon'ble NT Ramarao, from 1987 - 1989.
• Visited countries such as Germany, England, Holland, France, Spain, Hungary, USSR, America, Australia on numerous Scientific missions and Research programs.
• Authored 5 books on Geophysics, more than 100 scientific papers; about 150 seminar presentations in India and abroad.
• Founded  AEG (Association of Exploration Geophysicists)
• Edited AEG journal for 12 years
• Edited a book on Geophysics and a scientific journal in Telugu for 5 years, for AP Academy of Sciences
• Edited Telugu Encyclopedia (Vol. II, in Telugu) for AP Sahitya Academy.
• Was a Research Guide for 20 PhDs in Geophysics
• Advisor to a number of Industrial and Scientific bodies.

Awards and Honours:

• Van-Weelden Award (1958) of the European Association of Exploration Geophysics
• Decinniel Award (1976) of the Indian Geophysical Union
• Elected as Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, (conferred FNA)
• Best Teachers' Award of the Government of AP
• Millennium Award of the Indian National Congress (2007). Award received from the hands of Indian Prime Minister Sri Manmohan Singh at Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu
• Honoured by Institute of Scientific Research in Vedas (2007)
• Conferred Aasthaan Vidwaan (2007) of the Mysore Datta Peetham by Swami Ganapathi Satchitananda Swami
• Received Sri Sivaananda Eminent Citizen Award (2007)
